There are only about a million different strategies for building wealth. How can you tell which one or ones will work for you?
In my mind, there is only one question you need to ask about a strategy to see if it is for you. The question is: “Is it easy to follow?”
The easier a strategy or technique is to follow, the more likely you’ll use it, and thus the more likely you’ll find success with it. So when you’re looking for a plan, look for one that’s ridiculously easy to follow.
Life always gets in the way. Excitement wears off. Discipline wavers and shifts. Emergencies happen. Memory fades. If your plan relies heavily on your own excitement, discipline or memory, don’t be fooled into thinking that it’s going to work for you in the long term.
The easiest plans are ones that you set up once and that then become automatic. You don’t ever need to think about them again.
What retirement investment to make is up to you. Just do yourself a favor and make it as easy as possible.
